‘TRUE BLOOD’ — MOURNING

There are many TRUE BLOOD fans including myself that are anticipating TRUE BLOOD Season 5 coming June 10th on HBO! Last summer a friend of mine introduced me to TRUE BLOOD and let’s just say I was sucked in! I watched all four seasons and am ready for Season 5 baby!

I do want to mention that ‘TRUE BLOOD’ Mourning: Author Charlaine Harris Publishing Final Sookie Stackhouse Novel Next Year. The final Sookie Stackhouse book, DEAD EVER AFTER, will be on sale May 2, 2013. The 13th book in the series will be the last one. For the past four seasons and soon to be five, “True Blood” has based its action on the Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by author Charlaine Harris. The series, also known as The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, began in 2001, and Harris has provided a new novel every year since, creating the characters and storylines that we enjoy on HBO’s adaptation. The good news for “True Blood” fans, though, is that each season of the show has been more or less based on a single novel thus far: the most recent fourth season was based on the fourth novel, Dead to the World. That would imply that “True Blood” could go as long as 13 season based on the existing source material. However, the bad news is that the upcoming fifth season of “True Blood” is said to be incorporating much more material from later books in addition to storylines from the fifth novel. That means that “True Blood”s’ run could be shortened. But it is also important to note that the show has deviated pretty far from the novels over the past four seasons on occasion, and could continue to do so. Even if “True Blood” runs out of source material, there’s still a good chance that the show will continue with new, original stories, as long as the ratings hold up! So while fans of The Sookie Stackhouse Novels may be shedding a tear in 2013, it looks like “True Blood” will remain alive (or undead, at least) for a while yet.

Idris Elba to Play Nelson Mandela in Upcoming BIOPIC!!!

Wanna know what it feels like to go from a hit HBO show to BIOPIC star…in just 10 years? You might wanna ask Mr. Beautiful himself, Idris Elba.

The East London-born actor has been casted to play the role of the ever so delightful Nelson Mandela, in the upcoming film based on the South African President’s autobiography, “Long Walk to Freedom.”

THIS is what Black America has been waiting for! And we don’t give half a shit about the fact that Idris isn’t American. The ladies LOVE him, the men respect him, and Hollywood has FINALLY woken up and realized the man’s versatile talent!

Let me just sum up the man’s credits:

Stringer, an American thug – HBO’s “The Wire”
Monty, a hard working single father of three – Tyler Perry’s “Daddy’s Little Girls”
Ben, a camera man (to Hilary Swank) – Stephen Hopkins’ “The Reaping”
Stone, United States Marine Corps Sergeant – “28 Weeks Later”
Tango, a Harlem dopeman (alongside Oscar Award winning Denzel Washington) – Ridley Scott’s “American Gangster”
Heimdall, guardian of Asgard (with Sir Anthony Hopkins) – “Thor”
Roque, a CIA badass – “Losers”
Mumbles, a two-bit British criminal – “Rock n Rolla”
Gordon Cozier, a tailored suit-donned bank robber – “Takers”

Man, look. No matter the “color” of the cast, or the preconceived notions of what a certain character should/not look like, Idris has what it takes to play the role, and do amazingly well.

Since life is a battlefield, I have NO DOUBTS that Idris Elba will knock his role as Nelson Mandela out of the park. At all.

Kudos to you, sir! Kudos!

The Avengers – A Review

With an estimated $200 MILLION grossed, my guess is whoever’s reading this review has already seen Marvel & Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers,” so…

Loki (Tim Hiddleston) wants to wage war on Earth. Every last one of us. Yes, we all know, he’s a big crybaby who’s mad his brother, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), got the crown of Asgard instead of him.
Well, Loki found out that the Tesseract is on our planet, and joins forces with the Chitauri to overthrow us. Yes, an entire army of mythological alien beasts are waiting on the other side of Odin-knows-what, to come fuck up our whole shit!

The first Avenger S.H.I.E.L.D. decides to bring in is Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson’s perfectly shaped ass). With her specific skillset, she goes to pick up Hulk/Bruce Banner (now played by Mark Ruffalo).
Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) rounds up IronMan/Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), while Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) pulls in Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

Thor shows up to kick Loki’s ass and bring him home to Asgardian justice.

The Tesseract is what everyone wants. The Avengers are outnumbered by the looming Chitauri, but they’re ready…to kick EVERYONE’S ass.

It was AMAZING to see all the characters fight each other, fight giant floating leviathans, fix shit, joke around, and join forces. AMAZING!!!

I fell in love with every Avenger, ALL OVER AGAIN! Even though Hulk is played by yet another actor. Ruffalo played an awesomely timid Banner, and a badass green dude. BAD ASS.

Here’s the thing…life is a battlefield, and all of us have an “Avenger” inside of us. As cliché as that sounds. I really don’t care. I mean, if six people – be they superhuman or not – can help save the friggin UNIVERSE, I’m sure the rest of us can tackle whatever comes our way. Be they TPS reports, parking tickets, etc.

Tony Stark does his usual, by making himself the center of attention, and also makes a new bff in Hulk…since they’re both geniuses. Birds of a feather…
Black Widow may not have had her own movie, but…that ASS!
Bruce/Hulk…I wouldn’t wanna make him angry. Ever.
Captain America got me feeling all patriotic and warm inside.
Hawk fears NOTHING. Period.
Stan Lee doesn’t disappoint. He makes TWO cameos. Look at him now. He’s getting pay-purr.

If you haven’t seen “The Avengers” yet, CALL ME. I’ll see it with you! Over, and over, and over, and OVER again! I’ll also talk shit to you about why you’ve waited so damn long. Slacker.

Floyd Mayweather Remains Undefeated

Happy Monday folks! I know its been a while – and the phrase ‘all work and no play’ has more truth than ever!

Today’s entry will be brief but I just wanna say that ‘Champions are not born overnight,’ as the long, still undefeated career of boxer Floyd Mayweather indicates. ‘Money’ Mayweather improved to 43-0 this weekend after defeating Miguel Cotto in 12 hard-fought rounds out in Vegas. This bout was one for the ages as Cotto went the distance and came close to beating Mayweather, but the win streak stayed untouched once again with Floyd’s late surge in the final round. Fan reactions were mixed to say the least, as the crowd threw out a few boos when the scorecard was revealed.

I’m definitely a fan of Money Mayweather – in spite of what the fans (or haters for that matter) think! How can one argue UNDEFEATED??? This guy has had a long, consistent streak of executing his techniques damn near perfectly and numbers don’t lie! So my messages to the non-believers is simple – STEP YA GAME UP!!!!

Tonight, I’m heading to the ‘All Tie Party With Live performance by RICKO BAIRD. The location is at Club Big Moe’s in St. Louis, MO. Robert Hughes is shooting the performance scene of Ella tonight. Fashion Designer Steve Elle, Michael Newcomb the writer, and the cast for the upcoming film The Story Of Ella will be in the building. Cameras will be rolling all night for this special event. Chain Maile/Metal Wear — The New Generation of Armor

Welcome Warriors and Warrioress, I’m back! I apologize for being away for a while. I have been battling wars daily and continue to Push daily! Last time I blogged about the Classic Little Black Dress. Today. I will focus on the New Generation of Armor, Chain Maile and Metal Wear. What is Chain Maile? Chain Mail is a type of Armor consisting of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. Maile first appeared some time after 300 BC. It’s invention is credited to the Celts. Maile spread to North Africa, The Middle East, Central Asia, India, Tibet, Korea and Japan. Maile continues to be used in the 21st century as a component of stab resistant body armor, cut-resistant gloves for butchers and wood workers, shark-resistant wet suits for defense against shark bites, and a numerous of other applications. I want to share my personal experience with Chain Maile and Metal wear. On March 25th, I was involved in a Photoshoot with House of Style Productions Kansas City Session 29 titled, ‘Heavy Metal Platinum Paradise’. The venue of the shoot was The Paul Mitchell the School of Overland Park, Kansas. The feature Designer was Lyle Miller also known as ‘The Armorer’. He designs and creates Wearable Art. He continues to work meticulously to bring his Passion for Fashion! I’m glad I had the opportunity to model his green and red/black metal swimwear.

President Obama Speaks Down on Rising Student Loan Rates on Jimmy Fallon

Middle of the week people….middle of the week! It’s all no-fun in the sun here in RK land as we prepare to head into another fiscal month, with the summer right around the corner and much to keep us all busy. No need to lose focus – and I’m sure that’s true for most of you guys out there as well.

I’m also sure you all have heard about our president traveling this week to re-connect with the college crowd about the hike in student loans interest rates set to double on July 1st. Well, Obama was at the University of North Carolina Tuesday night for a special taping of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” And I’m hearing he turned his spill on the Stafford Student Loans into a sesual R&B cut on the night show’s famous “Slow-Jammin’ the News” segment. President Obama spoke against the rising rates and urging Congress to not allow this to happen as the house band The Roots played a slick track with some heavy bass, making him officially the COOLEST PRESIDENT EVER! #SWAG

Let’s hope Congress does the right thing with this, and as always – keep pushing folks!

Deion Sanders Tweets Divorce Drama

Hello world! Well it’s Tuesday, one of my favorite days of the week. I won’t say the reason on here, but you can check my timeline on Twitter (@HoLLyGQ) to see why (#EvilVillianLaugh)…
And while we’re on the subject of Twitter, I just heard about last night’s tweets from NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and all I can say is WOW!

Apparently, Sanders is going through a divorce with his wife, Pilar Sanders. The tweets are posted in screenshots below, but the other photo, which shows Sanders and his sons filling out a police report, was posted by the athlete 14 minutes after the status updates.

Ok so here’s my take – after my own personal experience with relationship drama via social media networks….some things are better left ‘un-tweeted’, but then again…sometimes people need to be exposed to the public eye to change their ways. At any rate, let’s keep the Sanders family in thought and prayer as they deal with this mess.

Forbes Releases Top 5 Hip Hop Cash Kings List

What’s going on out there warriors?!?! Slow motion for myself and the RK staff as we reach the day before the weekend. Everybody take a deep breath and woooooooo saaaaaaaaaah!!!!

Ok now that that’s outta the way, let’s get into some updates. Who else follows the Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings list? It’s always amazing to me how the same music tycoons keep making the list, and some of them accomplish this without any NEW music out the year in question! Talk about BAAAAALLLLLLLLING!!!!!

This year’s list has Bad Boy Records founder and Mr. Ciroc himself, Diddy on top with a net worth of $550 million. Wow this guy is damn near a BILLIONAIRE and hasn’t had any new music lately! Next up is the King of Hip Hop himself, Mr Shawn Carter aka Jay Z – with a tag of $460 million. Jigga is the only one on the top 5 list who still pumps out music and tours, coming fresh off the Watch the Throne tour with Kanye West. Dr. Dre ranks third with $270 million – double from a year ago thanks to a partial sale of Beats Electronics, the company who handled Dre’s popular trademark headphones. Cash Money Records CEO Birdman comes in at #4 with $125 million and rapper 50 Cent holds the 5th spot at $110 million – still seeing dollars from his investment in Vitamin Water 5 years ago.

I think I’ma need a break after all this money talk…but qudos to these successful black men making history in this world! Now everybody tweet them and ask if to let me hold something! Ha!
